Teenage Angst // A Poem
teenage angst // a poem
angel baby, hair black as the night
runaway dreams with a rebel heart
it’s just “teenage angst” they say
she’s gone before the dawn of light
mascara stains on her jeans
a bit of her is in you and me
she stands in the darkness
with a drag in her hand
she’s going away with the band
goodie-two shoes
with eyes so blue
cherry-flavored licorice
why won’t you just give her a kiss
where will this angel baby
sleep tonight
under the marquee glow
or on the side of the road
holding her diary full of secrets
she dreams of the band’s next set
