A Newcomer's Guide To Adulting

I'm probably not the best person to ask for advice on this subject, being that I have only had one job in my life (quit after six awful months), but I do have some words of wisdom that may help some of you in this exciting and awkward transition into adulthood…

As a 17 year old who has successfully procrastinated everything related to growing up, I totally understand the fear and anxiety that comes from these scary new responsibilities. Although I'm here to tell you that you shouldn't hold yourself back from being your best self. You may not be a kid anymore, but that doesn't mean that you can't still have fun and be light hearted. Life really isn't all that serious, even though it may seem like that right now.

I encourage all of you to stay positive during these hard and confusing times. Don't stress yourself out too much about the small stuff, keep in touch with your friends so you can bond over the fact that you are all going through the same things, and make sure that your mental health is a top priority.

I wish you all the best in your endeavours, whether that be starting high school, starting senior year, or going to college, always remember that you are only human and you aren't going to be perfect...which is completely fine.
